Mental Health First Aid Training for Faculty and Staff

In today's challenging times for education, it's important for faculty and staff members to be able to recognize and help individuals experiencing mental health symptoms in crisis and non-crisis situations. That's why UHCL is pleased to once again offer this mental health first aid training for faculty and staff on:

Friday, June 18, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (in person)
Thursday, July 8, Noon to 5 p.m. (in person)
Monday, Aug. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (online)

This in-depth training will cover:

  • Signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use problems
  • Protective and risk factors associated with mental health and substance use
  • A five-step action plan to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or in crisis
  • Skill development and how to apply your new skills
  • Available evidence-based professional, peer and self-help resources

This program is fully funded by a federal grant from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), making it a free training for participants.
